It eventually turns out that the gang's father was in cahoots with Danny Trejo all along to keep the reward for himself, and when Nolte turns the gun on Sandler, Wilson leaps into action, his bodyguard instincts kicking in as he dives in front of the bullet. A delirious Wilson then envisions Sandler as Abe Lincoln, who thanks him for saving his life, in his eyes redeeming himself for his previous professional mistake. Also, because the film can't resist but make a crack about Mrs. Lincoln's appearance, Wilson sees a burro and believes it to be her.
