29 Brand New Characters Coming To MCU Phase 4

While Melina will be the mother figure to Natasha in Black Widow, Florence Pugh's Yelena will be her adoptive sister, having also gone through the same rigorous training in the Red Room. Clearly there is history between the two characters, with Natasha seemingly abandoning Yelena when she escaped the Black Widow programme.

With Natasha having already sacrificed her life in the MCU, trading her own soul for the Soul Stone in Avengers: Endgame, there are may fans that theorise Yelena will take up the mantle of Black Widow moving forward, as she has done in the comics.

This is certainly a possibility, as Yelena will seemingly not perish in Black Widow as other fans thought she might. This was confirmed with the news that Florence Pugh would be reprising her role in Hawkeye on Disney+, a series that will reportedly be set in the year 2025.

Just how much she will feature alongside Jeremy Renner is currently unknown, but the fact that she will appear at all suggests that Marvel Studios have bigger plans for the character further down the line.
