Pixar's final movie before being taken over by Walt Disney Pictures, Cars takes the premise of talking vehicles as a starting point and crafts the tale of Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) and his efforts to win the Piston Cup. Lightning McQueen's race number, 95, is a more subtle reference to Toy Story, indictating the year in which it was released. A more pervasive and easier to understand easter egg can be found on the tyres of many of the vehicles as well as Lightning McQueen - the Lightyear Buzzard brand is a clear reference to Buzz.
