30 Behind The Scenes Shots That Completely Change The Tone Of Great Movies
24. Wet Wraiths
Lord of the Rings: One of the most popular and successful franchises in movie history. "You shall not pass!" was screamed by nerds at their television screens for years thanks to Gandalf and the rest of of our Middle Earth friends. The wraiths were a somewhat popular part of the series as well. Doomed souls who were kept alive by dark magic, wraiths symbolized the evil side of magic and dark side of humanity. But hey, sometimes it rains. Even servants of Sauron need to be protected from Mother Nature's wrath and why not all use the same pretty, purple umbrellas? After all, they want to look like a team.
23. Mr. Stay Puft
For only having about 10 minutes of screen time, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man has become possibly the most well-known character in the two Ghostbuster movies. After Ray Stantz involuntarily selects Mr. Stay Puft as their destroyer, the Marshmallow Man nearly destroys New York City before the Ghostbusters defeat him. Once the camera is pulled back, Mr. Stay Puft doesn't look nearly as scary and actually looks like he wants to give you a big hug. Bill Bryan in his latex suit looks more like a character at a child's 8th birthday party than the death of mankind.
22. Maximus Cuddles With A Tiger
Gladiator, the Best Picture winner of 2000, brought moviegoers back to a (somewhat) historical Rome and followed the path of Maximus to his revenge against the evil Joaquin Phoenix and his awful haircut. In the middle of the movie, Maximus battles a former champion gladiator while tigers are strategically placed in the arena to keep the fighters in a certain spot. This is one of the more thrilling parts of the movie, with many people in the theatre actually covering their eyes. However, when you see the behind the scenes picture, you see the tiger looks no more ferocious than a stuffed animal won at the state fair. The tiger almost looks like it's taking a nap and Russell Crowe is gently stroking its ears while it purrs. We can probably ignore the amputated leg that Maximus is attacking, if only because making one-legged jokes is far too easy.
