The last of a trilogy that improved with each sequel, Ultimatum's relentless cat-and-mouse chase turns a train-station stroll into a pulse-quickening pursuit, a coffee-table book into a brutal weapon, and Matt Damon into the ultimate ass-kicking machine. That was a lot of hyphens, but you get the point. Jason Bourne's odyssey into improvised weapons concluded with a spectacular sequence in Paul Greengrass' superb Bourne Ultimatum. After a startling free-run chase, Bourne engages in a desperate close-quarters punch-up where a book is applied forcefully and repeatedly to his opponents face and throat. The great thing about this fight scene is that it's not trying to be flashy or spectacular. You can actually sense the desperation of both of these characters, and how every single move can mean life or death. They don't pause to give each other stare downs or pull fancy moves; they are simply trying to eliminate their opponent as fast as possible, end of story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLt7lXDCHQ0
