Theres something incredibly annoying about taking Hong Kong films and changing their original titles into something so generic that you almost expect it to star Steven Seagal. The title "Kill Zone doesn't even make any sense within the context of the film. On the other hand, for this particular case, it's fairly easy to sympathize, as the Hong Kong title (S.P.L: Sha Po Lang), is a bit too cryptic for those of us who dont understand the culture. Directed by Wilson Yip, Sha Po Lang stars Simon Yam as Inspector Chan, a good man with a singular determination to put a very bad man behind bars before its too late. He has help from a small band of loyal men, but not from Inspector Ma Kwun (Donnie Yen), who has been assigned to take over Chans unit once Chan retires in a few days. It's a fairly convoluted story about where the moral line lies in the fight between cops and crooks but one thing that is easy to understand is when Ma confronts Jack (Jing Wu), the knife-wielding assassin who killed the men of Kwuns unit. On a side-note; this fight scene seems to take place in the cleanest back alley in all of film history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H-3NKj8yO8
