Original apprentice of a hidden Darth Sidious, Maul burst into the franchise with a killer look, a menacing (pun intended) stoicism and a game-changing double-ended lightsaber. He was part of one of the best duels to ever come from Star Wars, killing Qui-Gon Jinn before being defeated by his eventual arch-nemesis Obi-Wan Kenobi.

His later return to The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels turned him into a pivotal character in the wider Star Wars lore, and thanks to his iconic look and stand-out role in The Phantom Menace, he has been a fan favourite for over two decades now, with none of the praise being undeserved.
