A ruthless and brutal military leader, Wilhuff Tarkin was put in charge of the construction of the Death Star and served as one of the key leaders in the Empire. Tarkin believed in the power of fear, thinking that the Death Star would scare any opponents to bend to the will of Imperial rule.
Played in A New Hope by the irreplaceable Peter Cushing, he froze blood with every scene and remains one of the best and most chilling villains to ever appear in the franchise, with his background further explored in The Clone Wars, which brought his shady history with Palpatine to light.
