26. Kyp Durron
Luke Skywalker's most talented pupil at the Yavin IV Academy, Durron fell under the influence of Exar Kun who convinced him to steal an imperial superweapon and use it to lead an anti imperial campaign that annihilated an entire star system. After his fellow Jedi freed him from Kun's influence he dedicated his life to absolving himself of his crimes and became one of the most respected Jedi Master's in the New Jedi Order. He was later an influential part of the New Republic's defense against the Yuuzhan Vong. Durron was one of the most interesting characters created in the Expanded Universe, bringing a sense of moral ambiguity and personal complexity that separates him from the more black and white Luke Skywalker. He was arguably the most powerful member of the New Jedi Order after Luke Skywalker and his troubled early life enabled him to be a mentor to younger generations of Jedi. If the new series incorporates any of the Expanded Universe characters, Durron would be a fascinating choice.
