It's been a long time since we had a Peter Jackson movie, and as it stands this is the closest we'll come for a while. Jackson has produced and written the movie alongside regular collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, with directing duties handed to Christian Rivers, who has had various roles on all of Jackson's movies.

Occupying the same December blockbuster slot as the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies (and hopefully much closer to the quality of the former), the movie - based on Phillip Reeves' novel - is set in a post-apocalyptic steampunk world where entire cities have been mounted on wheels and motorised, and prey on one another.

It's an intriguing high-concept and should look great if nothing else, while the cast includes Robert Sheehan and Hugo Weaving.

Release Date: December 14

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
