Lars Von Trier is not a director to everybody's taste and Nicole Kidman is not exactly Meryl Streep despite some great recent work, but here they combined to make a challenging yet spell-bounding work of art that had even Quentin Tarantino gushing over its merits.

The staging and concept of the film is ingenious and the film acts as a scathing assault on the selfishness of humanity whilst maintaining that there is great evil in all of us should the right situation arrive. Experimental cinema at its finest.
