30 Most Memorable Oscar Moments From The Last 30 Years

When Halle Berry won the Best Actress Oscar in 2001 for her stunning performance in Monsters Ball, she became the first ever black actress to win the award, while being only the 7th ever black nominee in the category at that time.

Berry hoped that her win would open the floodgates for other black actresses, but almost 20 years later, there hasn't been another black Best Actress winner, and only four black women have even been nominated in the category since.

Berry has since commented on the lack of diversity in the Best Actress field, claiming that she now feels her win "meant nothing" in terms of breaking down the door for women of colour.
