In a failed attempt to drawn in younger audiences, the 2011 Oscars changed things up by having James Franco and Anne Hathaway host the show, the result of which was perhaps the most calamitous hosting misfire in modern Oscar history.

Though Hathaway was clearly trying to inject some pep into their unfunny array of gags and dialogues, Franco's apathetic presence and delivery was met with scorn by critics and general audiences alike.
