30 Most Memorable Oscar Moments From The Last 30 Years
24. Pulp Fiction Wins Just A Single Oscar (1995)
Despite being one of the most critically acclaimed and beloved movies of the 1990s, Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction ended up going home with just a single Best Original Screenplay win for Tarantino and co-writer Roger Avary, despite scoring seven nominations.
In a total awards shambles, the classic crime film lost Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Film Editing to Forrest Gump, Best Supporting Actor to Ed Wood and Best Supporting Actress to Bullets Over Broadway.
That's not to denigrate the actual winners too much: Forrest Gump in particular is an undeniable classic in its own right, and in a year which also saw The Shawshank Redemption nominated for seven Oscars (of which it won none), Academy members really were spoiled for choice.
But even so, Pulp Fiction was without question 1994's most enduring and timeless movie, and its poor Oscar performance is just absurd.
