It's not much of a secret that Michael Keaton's Batsuit was a major pain in the ass for the actor, with its limited range of mobility forcing him to move his entire body simply in order to turn his head. The Dark Knight even makes a rather hilarious crack about this.

But the tightness of the suit's cowl also severely limited Keaton's hearing to the point of near-deafness while in the suit, which exacerbated Keaton's already pronounced claustrophobia.

However, Keaton ultimately found that the sensory deprivation and general discomfort made it easier for him to get into character. He said, "It made me go inward and that's how I wanted the character to be anyway, to be withdrawn."
