31 Horror Movies To Watch This October

17. The Lodge

She Dies Tomorrow
NEON

To be clear from the outset, the latest film from Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala (Goodbye Mommy) is the furthest thing from a feel-good movie imaginable, and absolutely not recommended for anyone in a fragile mental state.

That said, The Lodge is also one of the most intoxicatingly grim and unforgettably bleak films released over the last year, focused on a young woman (Riley Keough) who is left alone with her partner's (Richard Armitage) two children at a rural lodge.

Riley Keough gives a courageous performance in a film the particulars of which are best left unspoiled. Know simply that it commits fully to its depraved central premise, and even offers up some loony rug-pulls to boot. Have something fun and relaxing ready to watch afterwards.

The Lodge is out now on VOD.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
