There's a big surprise in the first 60 seconds of Furious 7, that Deckard Shaw's (Jason Statham) brother Owen (Luke Evans) is in fact still alive despite seemingly being killed off at the end of the previous film, being hurled through a car's windshield and out the back of a plane. Furious 7 begins with Deckard talking to some doctors and the camera pans back to reveal that Shaw is alive, albeit extremely gravely injured (complete with heavy scarring to one side of his body), while his big, bad brother vows to reap vengeance. Given the absurdity of his exit in the previous film, nobody could've expected that Owen could have survived, and of course, many are now suspecting that he may be brought back for a future sequel, and possibly even the very next movie.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
