2. The Buddha Alien - Gantz
Based off a manga of the same title,
Gantz is a Japanese film from 2011 about two teenagers who die trying to save a man in the subway. Rather than finding themselves in heaven or hell, they arrive in an ordinary room filled with strangers and a large, black sphere known as Gantz. It gives them information on strange people, who turn out to be horrific alien monsters, that they must kill with the high tech weaponry Gantz provides. This film is great because of the sheer intrigue of Gantz's mystery. You can't help, but ask, what is it? Who created it? For what purpose? Why do they have to kill those aliens?
