3. John Carter
Disney's John Carter tells the story of a civil war veteran who discovers he has been transported to Mars and must face many deadly threats in order to save a princess. Brought out to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the novel turned serialization, the film was set to make a big turnover upon release in 2012 but the science fiction flick did not live up to the studio's high expectations. The film itself received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Cranston plays Powell, a Union Colonel who is assigned to take John Carter down as he is considered a renegade. After a failed attempt to conscript John into the U.S Army, he arrests and pursues him before John finds himself on another planet entirely. Sometimes called Barsoom in the novels, the depiction of Mars in the film was done using CGI and Cranston himself got involved with parts of the green screen work.
