5 Awesome James Bond Villains And 5 That Sucked

1. Gustav Graves

Here€™s a Bond villain who repeats the same beats we€™ve seen time and time again €“ turning two countries against one another for personal gain - but without even the slightest sense of humour or self-awareness. Toby Stephens€™ Gustav Graves unfortunately forces Pierce Brosnan €“ a strong but beleaguered Bond €“ to end his tenure as Bond on something of a whimper, with a completely forgettable villain, a good-looking, smart, rich, charismatic young man who has the most absurd grotesquery of any villain in the entire series. Earlier in the film, Bond faces off against an Asian villain, Tan-Sun Moon (played by Will Yun Lee), who it turns out has had surgery to turn himself into a white man, and indeed, Graves himself. While getting on board with silly ideas like this became par the course in later Bond films, this was just one step too far, and while it just about allows us to remember the man, there€™s just nothing here that makes him interesting or even really threatening. It is a horribly misjudged character, and likely contributed to the much-needed reboot of the series. Are there any characters we should have included? Let us know in the comments below.
