5 Best Movie Theaters In The U.S.

5. Film Forum - New York City, New York

Film Forum When people talk about seeing independent movies at an "art house" theater, Film Forum is the ultimate example. Located on Houston Street, Film Forum has three screens which show classic films as they were meant to be seen: on 35 millimeter film. Regularly showing classics isn't the most successful business venture, so it is a good thing that Film Forum is a non-profit (these arty New York socialist types...). But along with classics they screen independent movies that are unlikely to be shown at an AMC Theater. But selection alone doesn't make a good theater, Film Forum is also technically excellent equipped with both film and digital projectors and dynamic surround sound. The individual screening rooms are not overly large, but that is part of the appeal. While attending IMAX films is certainly a thrill for the senses, Film Forum provides a classic moviegoing experience in a more intimate setting. Attending a screening at Film Forum guarantees that you are surrounded by people with a similar passion for film, from the staff to the audience.
