5 Best Movie Theaters In The U.S.

3. Alamo Drafthouse - Austin, Texas

Alamo Drafthouse If you are looking for a fun theater environment without the obnoxious presence of talking, texting, or even worse, children, the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas is for you. Started in Austin in 1997, the Alamo Drafthouse brand has branched out and now there are twelve venues, but for the purposes of this list #3 goes to the Alamo Drafthouse at the Ritz. Alamo has developed a reputation for being the place to go for cult classics and movie marathons as well as having strict guidelines for how to behave in the theater. Home to Harry Knowles famous annual Butt-Numb-A-Thon (a 24 hour straight movie extravaganza), Fantastic Fest, and many other events, the Alamo is a theater that promotes enthusiasm for film. With their new distribution company promoting movies like Miami Connection, Bullhead, and The Act of Killing, they obviously have good taste as well. While the Alamo may ultimately be remembered for selling booze to the audience along with an array of food you won't find at other venues, it is still a theater that puts the movie first.
