5 Changes That Would've Improved Fight Club
3. More Meat, Less Ham! Following the Big Reveal, Jack attempts to thwart Tylers plan by defusing the bomb in the van packed full of nitroglycerin. Yes, cutting the correct wire before the timer runs to zero may be a tired action film trope but a spot of reverse psychology and double-bluff keeps things ticking away nicely (as it were). The wire is cut, the day is saved - but Tyler turns nasty. He punches, kicks and throws Jack down a flight of stairs- all the while making karate squawks and thoroughly hamming it up. The violence may be less graphic than in earlier scenes, but its comic intentions make it resemble a scene from Bottom (beating Jack with his own shoe, for instance). And we can all do without the CCTV images of Jack dragging himself across the floor or throwing himself downstairs. It doesnt make sense.
