5 Comic Book Storylines That Should Never Be Adapted (Again)
3. Batman: Year One
Batman: Year One is a seminal bat-tale, one which fans of the character should all really try to read at one point or another, but that doesn't mean it has to be constantly reused as a basis for adaptations.
The book was used as inspiration for the first of Nolan's trilogy, as well as inspiration in practically every other medium that has featured the Dark Knight.
So, while it may not have featured on the big screen as much as some of the other entries on this list, fans should be able to agree that the elements of this story are synonymous with early year versions of Batman, meaning that it is way past time that some new comics are used as a basis for adaptation.
Over the last few years we've received some excellent tales in this regard - whether that be Scott Snyder's Zero Year or Tom King's War of Jokes & Riddles - so it isn't as though such young-Bat centric stories are in short supply, it's just that script writers need to look beyond the work of Frank Miller, as good as it was.
