5 Feisty Exploitation Films With Bad-Ass Girl Gangs!

switchblade sisters Girls, Girls, Girls! Sounds fun? Well you can have them a plenty in the following films. They do however congregate in gangs. Nasty gangs involved with drugs, prostitution, violence, blackmail and murder. Exploitation film makers have had a field day focusing on the more lurid side of girls in gangs and many bargain basement demented classics have arisen from their efforts. We are quite used to the idea of girl gangs in modern day society, but back in the 1950s, such disgraceful behaviour from girls was practically unheard of. Exploitation film makers rubbed their hands in glee whenever they realised this - that they could peddle the idea of girls gone wild and converging in groups. It must have played on parent's worst nightmares. The girl gang exploitation movie remained popular in the 1970s classic era of Grindhouse cinema, and in keeping with the times, it was the beneficiary of extra tawdriness, violence and sleaze. There may be films about girl gangs being made today. I don't know. I'm too busy immersed in the fun of yester-year - the Golden Age of girl gang movies!

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
