This film can be seen as the beginning of the end of the spoof movie as a genre. It may have starred Leslie Nielsen who excelled at deadpan delivery in Airplane! and the Naked Gun movies but it was also co-written by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. This deadly duo would go on to create the most consistently awful series of movies in cinematic history. I€™m hesitant to even call them movies, given that they€™re really just a bunch of pop culture references strung together.
