5 Greatest Film Scores Of All Time

4. The Godfather - Nino Rota

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvKXt3Surlk Nino Rota's music from The Godfather perfectly captures the romanticism of the mafia in the film as well as the immenent danger that's always lurking somewhere. Francis Ford Coppola's father Carmine Coppola actually composed much of the music for the wedding scene that opens the film in an unmistakable fashion. The music that plays over the wedding perfectly highlights the "I believe in America" scene that opens the film with the wedding being a joyous affair, while the scene it's juxtaposed with highlights the structure of the film. The score of The Godfather also gives the viewer a feeling of Italy long before Michael is exiled there. This is brilliant because it allows the music to give you a feeling of who these people are and their heritage.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
