5 Horror Movie Characters Who Should Have Died (And 5 We Wish Hadn’t)

4. We Wish Hadn't: Randy Meeks - Scream 2

Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) knew the rules of horror inside-and-out. In Scream, the self-referential slasher film, Randy revealed to his friends the rules of horror films, advising his pals on how they might best act in order to survive Ghostface, the stab-happy serial killer who was stalking their every move.

While, fortunately, Randy survived the original Woodsboro Murders, this smart-talking horror film fanatic met a grisly fate in its sequel.

In Scream 2, Randy offers a helping hand to Dewey Riley (David Arquette) and Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox) as they attempt to solve a new slew of killings at Windsor College.

Helpfully explaining the 'rules' of horror sequels, Randy promises that "the body count is always bigger", and the kills "are always much more elaborate, with more blood and gore".

Of course, these words come to haunt Randy, who is graphically slashed to death later in the film. Murdered in broad daylight, his screams covered up by some music playing nearby, Randy's death is as preventable as it is tragic. One of the sharpest characters in the series, and a firm fan-favorite, we wish Randy had avoided this gruesome fate.
