4. Evil Dead (2013)
You have to give the team behind the 2013 Evil Dead remake/reimagining/reboot credit. They took one of the all time classic horror films and rather than bastardising it created their very own sinister and gory take on a much love video nasty. Sure a lot of the originals cheap and cheerful charm had gone but the final piece was entirely worthy of the name Evil Dead and this writer for one cannot wait for a second instalment. Die hard fans such as myself were waiting patiently for the iconic moments from the originals to appear in this version. Although many of these moments were not re-enacted for today's cinema goer one particular moment was - the hand amputation. OK so this time we don't get to see Bruce Campbell screaming at his own limb as he hacks it off in a bloody blaze of glory but the 2013 version is just as grim with the car landing squarely on our heroine's arm leaving her no choice but to carry out a little bit of surgery on herself with a chainsaw. The naysayers will refuse to give this fantastic movie a chance but if you like gore, scares and all things nasty then seriously go out and buy the DVD or Blu Ray today.
