1. Madonna - Die Another Day
In 2002 the new instalment of the Bond franchise was ready to be released, Bronson looked suave, Berry looked sexy and everything was looking pretty great for the British secret agent. Madonna was chosen to sing the new Bond song, an honour that in the past has been bestowed to the likes of Shirley Bassey and Nancy Sinatra, so it seemed fitting that the queen of pop, arguably at the height of her fame would be given the song. Hey the song wasnt great, but it was only three minutes of Madonna then a pulsating Bond adventure without Madonna would begin. Or so we thought. During Bonds first encounter with antagonist Gustav Graves, Madonna shows up as a fencing instructor who drearily reads through her innuendo strewn lines that by this point are becoming very tiresome. Its really difficult to fathom that the writers of Skyfall, Neil Purvis and Robert Wade wrote some of this nonsense. Erection jokes aside, the cameo here is just unnecessary, especially considering that Bond and Graves are meeting for the first time. Their encounter should be full of tension and angst designed to lead up to an epic conclusion. Doesnt really stir those feelings when Madonna reads I dont like cockfights
