5 Most Overlooked Performances In The Dark Knight Trilogy

3. Anne Hathaway (Selina Kyle)

catwoman_mgdyz Before Anne Hathaway's interpretation of Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises, the character of Selina Kyle was portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1992 film, Batman Returns. Pfeiffer's performance remains excellent although the characterization of Selina Kyle in that film is not as faithful to the source material as the character Hathaway plays in The Dark Knight Rises. Hathaway delivers an outstanding performance as she does in the films she has been featured in. In particular, what is striking about Hathaway's performance as Selina Kyle is the look in her eyes throughout the film. She not only captures the look in her eyes that is required from her character such as when she is being sly but also when she is being sincere. An example is when she is forced to watch in horror as Bane is fighting Batman and the look in her eyes after Bruce reminds her that the bomb will detonate when it is scheduled to do so. Hathaway quickly shifts her body language and the look in her eyes from being sneaky, which is essentially to the Selina Kyle character to being sincere when the situation presents itself. Hathaway's performance contributes to what makes The Dark Knight Rises such an emotionally engaging film.
