5 Movie Endings From 2013 With Disturbing Implications You Totally Missed

2. What's Stopping The Precursors From Opening Another Portal Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim tells the story of several giant robots, operated by specially-trained humans, who fight Kaiju, which are giant, monstrous alien creatures who come to Earth to try and wipe us out through an inter-dimensional portal located at the bottom of the sea. If that sounds insane, well... it is. Much of the movie is dedicated to watching the massive battles between the Jaegers (the robots) as they face off against the Kaiju, until one bright spark realises that the best way to stop the enemy from coming to Earth is to blow up the portal. Which is exactly what happens: one Jaeger makes its way through the portal with a nuclear bomb strapped to it, drops it into the alien breach where the portal is kept open, and wham! Goodbye, Kaiju! We learn in the film, however, that it was a group of aliens called the Precursors who opened the portal originally, and though we witness some of them getting blown up in the final explosion, we can't be expected to believe that one bomb destroyed an entire race of alien creatures? Surely there were other Precursors around other than those that were lingering near the portal (presumably the most dangerous place of all)? What's stopping these intergalactic madman from rebuilding a new breach and opening another portal? Seriously: think about it. A race as advanced and technically adept as this one isn't going to collectively gather in one place... there are going to be other Precursors around, somewhere away from the explosion. And it's not hyperbolic to suggest that they're going to be totally and utterly p*ssed with Earth. Maybe they were leaving all that for the sequel?
