4. Time After Time

Jack the Ripper uses H.G. Wells€™ time machine to escape Victorian London and winds up in San Francisco in 1979. Wells follows. Now that€™s quite a time jump. But forensic science has taken more than a few leaps and bounds of its own in the last thirty years. The final act of the film hinges on the fact that Wells believes his beloved Amy has been murdered by the ripper when her best friend is the real victim. With DNA testing and other modern forensic techniques, it€™s much harder to disguise the identity of a murder victim. Jack the Ripper may have gotten away with his crimes but fortunately science has made it easier to catch the would-be rippers of today.
