5 Movies-Within-Movies We NEED To See (And 5 That Would Suck)

8. Mant! from Matinee Would Probably Suck

Matinee stars John Goodman as Lawrence Woolsey, an independent filmmaker working during the 1960s who attempts to cash-in on the anxieties surrounding the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Primarily working on cheap, schlocky B-movies, we see Woolsey ardently attempt to promote his latest feature Mant!, a monster horror flick featuring a half-man, half-ant creature.

Mant! would likely be akin to any other low-budget B movie with cheesy dialogue and cheap special effects and, from the snippets of the film we do see, the movie appears to be a typically over-the-top creature feature.

While unlikely to win awards or critical acclaim, Mant! would potentially work as a guilty pleasure flick, a film so bad that audiences would flock to see it.

However, given its repetitive nature, and the fact that it is so similar to other equally redundant monster films of the 1950s and 1960s, it is likely that Mant! would be largely ignored by audiences, overshadowed by better films with bigger budgets.
