5 Pixar Spinoffs Disney Should Make

1. A Boo Film From Monsters, Inc.

OK, so this suggestion is clearly distinct from the others in this list. The first four movies I€™ve proposed feature very minor or nonexistent characters from the original films and are primarily spinoffs because they continue in the worlds that the original pictures created. Boo, on the other hand, is a very important character from Monsters, Inc. Some of you may already be screaming at me that a Boo film without Mike and Sully wouldn€™t work. You might be right. But I€™m determined to make this suggestion because Boo is simply too adorable to avoid. And I think, given the right premise, it could work. Let€™s take a look at Boo at that same age (or perhaps a little older), but in the human world. What is she like when she€™s not fearlessly creating havoc in the world beyond your closet door? If you think about it, Boo really wasn€™t an active player in Monsters, Inc. It was always Mike and Sullivan€™s narrative, and Boo just charmingly complicated things. So let€™s let her lead the story for a change. Now, Boo can never be simply an ordinary preschooler; Disney would have to set her standalone film in some sort of unusual world. But she€™s also going to need to be active in a different way. One thought that I€™ve had is that Boo€™s family is going on a safari vacation and something happens in the wilderness. Using some combination of cleverness and cuteness, Boo befriends the wild animals and saves her family. I€™m not completely sold on that idea, but at least the safari setting would somewhat mirror the monster-verse. So there you have my first pass at some ideas for Disney. Let me know what parts of Pixar films you think could command 90 minutes of devoted screen time.

I humbly claim the title of renaissance man. I am a professional writer (published playwright), college soccer coach, world traveler, crime-fighting vigilante, part-time juggler, serious hiker, coin collector, counseling student, and doting father/husband among many other roles. (OK, one of those may not be true.)
