It probably stems from his intense preparation, but when Lewis acts, the speech is perfect, he knows where to put his hands and how to position his body, whilst many actors stand awkwardly or are noticeably aware of whats around them. When I watch Daniel, I know what he knows, I know the scene, and neither he nor I are interested in the cameras or the director and producers behind the camera. His father was Cecil Day-Lewis, adulterous poet who himself had a natural affinity for words, something his son has clearly inherited, as one can probably tell from his diction and accent, which, put-on or not (I dont know) breathes intelligence.
