5. Every Cast Member Is The Perfect Choice
It seems that every role in this film has been tailor made for the actors that have been cast in them. Amy Adams has shown that she can pull off the hard ass with the sweet core in a role that could be described as the perfect mix of her characters from The Fighter and Enchanted/The Muppets. Russell Crowe as the father of Krypton's last son is an unexpected but perfect concept. It should be pretty easy to wash the overpaid, unprofessional wheezy Brando performance from our minds, with Javert keeping an eye on the infant. All american charm? How about the double whammy of Kevin Costner (If he plays it, I will watch) and Diane Lane as Ma and Pa Kent? The two most important roles however are where the true genius lies, rather than go for big name of the moment celebrities, we actually have two talented actors as the protagonist and antagonist. Henry Cavill, though not exactly A-list has proved his mettle with TV's The Tudors and looks set to nail the performance as the title role. The most interesting and on the nose casting, lies with the unnerving Michael Shannon being cast as General Zod. Shannon is the perfect combination of steely determination and unhinged lunacy that the character requires.
