1. It Didn't Work Before
There's still a pre-conceived, negative idea about a live action Robin thanks to the 1997 Chris O'Donnell interpretation in the Joel Schumacher movie; Batman and Robin. Batman and Robin was, simply put, the worst of all seven of the Batman movies since (and including) the 1989 Michael Keaton offering and one of the worst comic book movies of all time. It was hideous - a complete and utter franchise killer - and at such an early stage of the new DC Cinematic Universe's development, risking that kind of massacre all over again should not be an option. Don't get me wrong, Robin wasn't the only thing (or even the worst thing) wrong with the first attempt at a Batman and Robin movie (Bane and Mr. Freeze, as well as the script in general, were awful), but he was nothing more than an annoyance. A really camp annoyance. If DC and Warner Brothers want to risk the inclusion of Robin, they should do so once this new universe is far more established. Simple as that. Otherwise it could be over before it really begins. Let common sense prevail, people, and keep Robin away from this movie (and the DC Cinematic Universe as a whole, for the time being).
