5 Reasons Why Star Trek Generations Doesn't Deserve The Hate

3. A Bad-Ass Villain

Dr. Soran, played to perfection by Malcolm McDowell was another major bright spot for this movie, and a villain with a motive to say goodbye to his reality after the carnage the Borg did to his world. Maybe this is taking it too far but he's the kind of villain we can relate to, to a point, where we see the cards he's been dealt, attempting to get to his end goal, the Nexus ribbon, and then getting ripped away in the final seconds. That would probably piss a lot of us off as well, eh? If nothing else he had the full capability of badassery to walk right up to a Klingon commander and knock them down on their bridge. That should never be forgotten among the more famous villains in Trek's history. And make no mistake about it, some of the lines he had will never be forgotten in Trek lore like "Time is the fire in which we burn", or as he's reminding Picard that time will eventually hunt you down, and make the kill. All classic one liners and brought to life so well by McDowell here. The only real shame is he never got to return to Trek as Soran, it would have been interesting to see where they could have taken his character in the long-term. Nonetheless, his character was largely overshadowed by the film's harshest critics and in turn deserves some revisiting...
