5 Reasons Why Superman vs Batman Movie Is Unnecessary

Man of Steel actor Harry Lennix took to the stage at this year's Comic Con and read an excerpt from Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns', the crowd went ballistic. The ultimate superhero enthusiasts' dream; Superman and Batman, DC's two biggest names, finally going head to head onscreen. After the excitement died down, speculation began as to who would be the new Batman. Names were being thrown out left, right and centre and in the end; nobody guessed right. The internet almost went into meltdown when it was announced that Ben Affleck would be taking up the iconic cape and cowl for the upcoming superhero showdown. Petitions were started, memes began and 'Batfleck' entered the popular lexicon. With the furor mostly over, Superman vs Batman is now only days away from the start of principal photography. But is it really such a great idea? Maybe after the end of Nolan's trilogy and the commercial failure of Green Lantern, coupled with the enormous success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that saw Phase 1 end with the $1.5b Avengers, DC are desperate to get a Justice League movie up and running. Maybe it's a lack of faith in Zack Snyder and David Goyer's creative vision for Superman. Who knows? This article will take a look at 5 reasons why Superman vsBatman seems completely unnecessary. None of which are Ben Affleck.
