1. They Embrace Their Mythology & Humble Beginnings
By allowing the franchise to grow, a mythology was created around each film, creating a much larger story that continually unfolds with each new installment. In fact, the third film, Tokyo Drift, takes place
after the events of Fast and Furious 6. The seventh film, currently in production, will finally mark the symbiosis of the entire franchise and move forward from there. One of the biggest strengths of the series is its ability to tie in past storylines and characters into new installments, effectively giving it an all-encompassing feel. Whereas other franchises shy away from bringing back characters from past movies, the Fast and Furious films embrace those who have come before, and give them new life and purpose in the proceedings of the more recent outings. Marvel Studios is often credited for being the first studio to embrace a shared universe, but the Fast and Furious films have been doing it all along.
