4. Modern Special Effects
The first Mask movie was nominated for the Best Visual Effects Award at the 67th Academy Awards (ultimately losing out to Forrest Gump, however), emphasising just how good the cartoon-like effects of the Mask's powers can come across on screen - and that was back in 1994. Utilising the technology that film-makers have at their disposal now, a modern reboot of the movie could be absolutely stunning. It almost feels as though it would be worth rebooting The Mask for this single reason. The effects of Stanley Ipkiss' reality-warping powers would be visually great and so much more could be tried this time around. The project could be so much more ambitious.
