Alfred Sadly for the legacy of the late Michael Gough, this was to be his final appearance as Alfred Pennyworth, the loyal butler of Bruce Wayne. One of only two cast members to have lasted the entire Burton and Schumacher quadrilogy, it is hard to argue that the BAFTA award winning actor, with his impeccable diction, quiet dignity and a seemingly unshakable air of calm, was a perfect fit for the role in the near decade he played him.
