5 Reasons Why Pacific Rim Isn't Actually That Good

KAIJUWARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS HEAVY SPOILERS Pacific Rim is the long-awaited summer blockbuster which has come courtesy of Guillermo Del Toro, best known for Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy. Del Toro has made no secret of his love for the old Japanese monster movies and so a film with his passion for the subject and the budget of a summer blockbuster promised to be incredible. The trailers came and did nothing but make us more excited, it looked awesome. Big robots fighting huge monsters, not an awful lot of story, it looked like just what we wanted from a huge monster movie. It narrowly missed out on making my Top 5 Most Anticipated list for the year and when I finally got to see it I was fairly excited to say the least. Then afterwards I was just left with a feeling of... meh. It wasn't anything special, if anything it was incredibly average, at best. It confused me, therefore, when I discovered that critics and audiences alike were raving about how great it was and how Del Toro has changed the modern blockbuster. So, here are just a few reasons why I don't think it was quite as good as everybody made out.
