5 Reasons Why The Conjuring Is The Best Possession Film In Years

5. Characterization 784e8bb913804171697677dd44b892bb In most cases of possession films we generally just receive basic and minimal insight to the victims. The Conjuring may extend its length to nearly 2 hours by giving depth to characters such as the famed ghost hunters Ed and Loraine Warren but it€™s better than introducing them out of nowhere and expecting viewers to just accept that they are professionals. Smaller touches as in Loraine€™s backstory of a previous case where she something incredibly frightening that we the viewers never witness adds an element of uncertainty. It says that just because Ed and Loraine are dedicated and masters of their craft, it doesn€™t mean they will just waltz into the Perron farmhouse home and easily solve the problem. They are vulnerable characters too despite being knowledgeable and well versed in the paranormal. On the other side of the coin. The Perron family also receives characterization. Each individual character in the family of seven may receive less than the Warrens but it is still there. One child is fascinated by a musical box, another child sleepwalks, one is privy to the traditional trope of pulled from the feet while sleeping, the mother receives unexplainable bruises, and more. Each character is haunted in their own unique style providing identification to each character leaving the viewer aware of who is who at all times.
