5 Reasons Why The Conjuring Is The Best Possession Film In Years

3. Story thumb_33-1374286192 The Conjuring may not have a remarkable story but it is a terrifying one that works. There is a moderate level of intrigue surrounding the history of the farmhouse that contains a satisfying and disturbing payoff involving rituals, sacrifice, and suicide. I certainly find people hanging themselves from trees and mothers sacrificing their children creepy. Aside from that it also manages to again provide great characterization and acting. Characters rarely commit horror film acts of stupidity outside of occasionally inspecting noises but even then you can make cases as to why it is understandable that they would. The film even answers basic questions like €œWhy not leave?€. Most importantly though, the film is incredibly sympathetic towards the family and reels viewers onto the side of the Warrens in hopes of beating whatever is terrorizing the Perron family. It is admittedly basic and formulaic but aforementioned aspects of characterization and acting solidify the execution into something unforgettable.
