5 Reasons Why The Wolverine Suffers From Goldilocks Syndrome

1. It's Made With Love; Even Though Love (Like Cyclops) Is Blind

the-wolverine I have absolutely zero doubt that Hugh Jackman genuinely adores the character of Wolverine. He may well get massive pay cheques, and an excuse to sculpt an unbelievable physique with every outing, but you can see that he really wants to create the ultimate onscreen incarnation of Logan. The problem is that sometimes, when someone is too close to their own projects, they are unable to be objective. And this is €˜The Wolverine€™s major pratfall, and the number one reason why is falls so firmly between brilliant and awful. He has picked a director that, let€™s face it, no doubt does as he is told and is there purely to oversee a successful character arc, and Hugh Jackman just remains in synch with what the comic book version of Wolverine is. This all works perfectly in theory, but what works on page does not always work on screen. It may be enjoyable, even gold standard at times. Sometimes it runs hot, and other times it runs cold. But when you have equal amounts of both, you are left with something tepid. It is not going to set your world on fire, but at the very least it might encourage others to raise their game.
