2. Over The Top Time Travel Stories
Of course, with a sci-fi series based around time travel, the temptation to weave ever more complex loop-the-loop intricacies is all too great, especially when it's done in such a way that the audience feel clever for keeping on board with it
But the creation of overlapping time paradoxes swiftly became narrative waffle which burdened the later films and derailed the point of what made the first 2 Terminators so special. The proposed destruction of Skynet in the past was a deleted plot point from the original Terminator which was re-used in Terminator 2 to amply fulfill the story of the first two films.
Yet Terminators one and two were simply chase movies with the overbearing fate of humanity allowing the cat and mouse game to be that much more consequential and gripping. And they were exactly that, with not a misguided Hawkings/Einstein thesis in sight.
