5 Reasons William Boyd's "Solo" Should Be The Next James Bond Movie

3. Explores Bond's Willingness To Take Matters Into His Own Hands

Daniel Craig As James Bond Shooting In Skyfall When asked about writing the story for Solo, Boyd stated, "Events conspire to make Bond go off on a self-appointed mission of his own, unannounced and without any authorization €“ and he's fully prepared to take the consequences of his audacity." Without wanting to reveal too much of the book's plot Bond's mission to Zanzarim does take an interesting turn for the worst that leaves him without orders to proceed, but needing to fulfill a vendetta. The name of the book is Solo, after all. Bond takes the situation into his own hands and refuses to come in from the cold, as the waters get murky. This is what we've come to expect more and more from the modern 007 films since the Dalton duology. The James who is not necessarily out for God, King, and country, but instead is out for himself. Things get personal in Solo like they have in each of the Daniel Craig films that drive 007 to decide to go it alone. It is often his decision to be a lone wolf that takes the story to a darker place where no one has his back and he must take larger risks. Just like his decision to take M in secrecy to his old family estate Skyfall in rural Scotland.
