5 Sci-Fi Movies You Didn’t Realise Were Shameless Rip Offs

3. Dredd 3D - The Raid

This one is obvious. While I was sitting in the cinema watching Dredd, it was all I could think about. In almost every way Dredd is a total rip off of The Raid. The plot is as simply as it gets, crack elite militarized police enter a drug den under a false pretence. The drug den is put on lock down by the building's tyrannical leader. That leader informs the residents to kill the invaders in return for "free lodgings for life". There is a series of amazing action visuals, then help from an unlikely source. Until the leader is killed and our hero is victorious. http://youtu.be/rObXKciMIZs Dredd was one of the best action films to be released in the west in 2012, it has everything that you could want. Also from a nerd standpoint, it is a true portrayal of the Judge from the AD 2000 graphic novels. Karl Urban was brilliant as Dredd. The only downside to this, is what I mentioned above. If you are not aware of The Raid, pre a Dredd viewing, the spender of the violence and action will be lost or at least diminished. This viewer will think while watching the Raid, "oh this is very similar to Dredd, isn't it?" I am not the first to make this comparison, but it is still worth pointing out. Please do watch both of these films, as they are fantastic!
